A great white earthenware Studio dish with an unusual abstract sea creature pattern in aquatic tones of green and blue.
Dating: 1966
Shape: A round 8" (20cm) dish
Design: Poole Studio wares are the predecessors to the successful Delphis range. Launched initially in 1961 by Robert Jefferson and Guy Sydenham with a series of individual pieces, a commercial range was produced from 1963 when Tony Morris joined the team. Items are more individual in nature than later pieces and are often unsigned.
Backstamp: Stamped "POOLE STUDIO england" to the base, this mark was used on studio output between 1964 - 1966 and is usually blue in colour due to reaction with the glaze.
Painter: Signed with a mark by the paintress Geraldine O'Meara, who only worked at Poole in 1966.
Condition: Very good condition. Light surface scratching and crazing in places.
