Poole Pottery 1970's Wareham Scene Plaque


A fabulous one-off stoneware plaque decorated by Leslie Elsden with a scene of old Wareham bridge. .

Dating: c. 1978

Shape: A round 10" (25cm) plate.


Backstamp: Printed "POOLE England" on the base together with the Poole dolphin. This backstamp was used between 1966 and 1980.

Painter: Signed by the painter Leslie Elsden, who also designed the Aegean range. Leslie worked at Poole for 53 years from 1926 until 1979, working initially as a glaze sprayer (including Picotee) and progressing to spray shop manager before designing and painting the Aegean, Contrast and Calypso ranges from 1969.

Condition: Excellent condition. Fleabite to base rim not visible on display.
