Poole Pottery 1978 Christmas Dish (Wareham)


A fabulous one-off stoneware dish decorated by Leslie Elsden with a scene of Wareham bridge and titled Christmas 1978.

Dating: 1978

Shape: A round 10" (25cm) plate.


Backstamp: Printed "POOLE England" on the base together with the Poole dolphin. This backstamp was used between 1966 and 1980.

Painter: Signed by the painter Leslie Elsden, who also designed the Aegean range. Leslie worked at Poole for 53 years from 1926 until 1979, working initially as a glaze sprayer (including Picotee) and progressing to spray shop manager before designing and painting the Aegean, Contrast and Calypso ranges from 1969.

Condition: Very good condition. One or two original imperfections on close inspection.
