Poole Pottery 1960's Delphis Dish


A fantastic early Delphis dish with a vibrant abstract pattern and orange peel glaze. The reverse has the early magnolia glaze and sought after blue backstamp.

Dating: c. 1966

Shape: A round 10" (25cm) dish. Although unmarked this is shape number 4.

Design: Delphis began as a studio range in 1963 and, although colour palettes were standardised in the 1970's, each piece is a unique expression by the individual artist. The range was withdrawn in 1979.

Backstamp: Printed "POOLE England" on the base together with the Poole dolphin. This backstamp was used between 1966 and 1980.

Painter: Signed with a monogram by Jean Millership, an art school trained paintress who worked at Poole from 1966 - 1969.

Condition: Excellent condition. Some minor crazing.
