A splendid looking vase from the Freeform period featuring a very rare Alfred Read design, believed to have been produced for a short time only.
Dating: 1953 - 1954
Shape: A 6" (15cm) bulbous vase impressed with shape number 266. Probably designed by John Adams c. 1929 - 1930.
Design: Decorated with contemporary pattern YBC, one of Alfred Read's earliest designs from 1953. Painted in soluble colours of Charcoal on Alpine White with a Terracotta highlight.
Backstamp: Printed "HAND MADE, HAND DECORATED" and "POOLE ENGLAND" on the base together with the Poole dolphin. This backstamp was used between 1952 and 1955.
Painter: There is no paintress mark.
Condition: Excellent condition.
