A very early and substantial semi-stoneware tin-glazed vase with a simple Portuguese style pattern in blue. Weighs 1.5 kg.
Dating: 1915 - 1921
Shape: An 11" (28cm) tall vase.
Design: Tin-glazed pieces with a grey semi-stoneware body and decorated with Portugese style patterns using the Delftware technique were introduced by James Radley Young in about 1915.
Backstamp: Inscribed Carter & Co Poole, this mark was used between 1908 - 1921 on lustre and other wares.
Painter: Signed with a mark by an unknown paintress
Condition: Good condition for age. Usual small faults with glaze, body and pattern. Possible old restoration to rim.
