An early Carter semi-stoneware tin glazed vase with a typical Portuguese style geometric pattern loosely painted on a grey ground.
Dating: 1915 - 1920
Shape: A 7½" (19cm) tall vase.
Design: Tin-glazed pieces with a grey semi-stoneware body and decorated with Portugese style patterns using the Delftware technique were introduced by James Radley Young in about 1915.
Backstamp: Unusually there is no pottery backstamp, although other factors confirm provenance.
Painter: There is no paintress mark.
Condition: Reasonable condition for age. Some minor glaze faults and crazing externally. Extensive brown staining and crazing internally.
