An early Delphis vase with a blue backstamp. This has a fabulous Tony Morris inspired abstract pattern in mustard and blue brown. Glaze misses to top and bottom.
Dating: 1966
Shape: A 6" (15cm) tall vase.
Design: Delphis began as a studio range in 1963 and, although colour palettes were standardised in the 1970's, each piece is a unique expression by the individual artist. The range was withdrawn in 1979.
Backstamp: Printed "POOLE England" on the base together with the Poole dolphin. Backstamp 47 was used between 1966 and 1980.
Painter: There is no paintress mark.
Condition: Excellent original condition. There is quite a lot of white showing through at the top and bottom of this vase where the glaze has not adhered during firing.
