Carter & Co 1910's Egyptian Vase

A rare and early Carter & Co unglazed Egyptian style vase with a geometric pattern in brown manganese oxide. Clear glaze to interior.

Dating: 1914 - 1921

Shape: An 8" (20cm) tall vase.

Design: Unglazed pieces in a coarse light-brown tile clay and decorated with Egyptian patterns in manganese oxide were introduced by James Radley Young in 1914 and were launched as a range in 1917 at the British Industries Fair..

Backstamp: Inscribed Carter & Co Poole, this mark was used between 1908 - 1921 on lustre and other wares.

Painter: Signed with a mark by an unknown paintress

Condition: Excellent condition for age, just some ingrained dirt and original clay defects.
