Poole Pottery 1970's Atlantis Vase

A fabulous hand-thrown Atlantis stoneware vase with a very effective matt soft sheen finish and internal clear glaze.

Dating: 1970 - 1974

Shape: A large bulbous vase 5½" (14cm) tall. This is shape number A5/2.

Design: Atlantis pieces were made by the craft section under the supervision of Guy Sydenham from 1969

Backstamp: Impressed "POOLE ENGLAND" on the base with backstamp 29, which has been in use since 1930.

Painter: Impressed with a mark by thrower and decorator Beatrice (Bea) Bolton, who worked alongside Guy Sydenham on the Atlantis section from 1970 - 1974.

Condition: Very good condition. A few minor blemishes to glaze on close inspection.
