Poole Pottery 1960's Studio Dish

£95.00

A bold 1960's Studio dish with masses of orange-peel texture to the thickly applied glazes.

Dating: 1966

Shape: A round 8" (20cm) dish

Design: Poole Studio wares are the predecessors to the successful Delphis range. Launched initially in 1961 by Robert Jefferson and Guy Sydenham with a series of individual pieces, a commercial range was produced from 1963 when Tony Morris joined the team. Items are more individual in nature than later pieces and are often unsigned.

Backstamp: Stamped "POOLE STUDIO england" to the base, this mark was used on studio output between 1964 - 1966 and is usually blue in colour due to reaction with the glaze.

Painter: Signed with a mark by the paintress Thelma Bush, who worked at Poole from 1966-1968 but used this mark in 1966/7.

Condition: Very good condition. Some staining to rear and glaze pits to front.
