Poole Studio 1960's Dish Tony Morris Style

£495.00

A sought after early TV mark Studio dish probably by Tony Morris. The geometric design is reminiscent of an abstract aerial view, a well known Morris style, finished in earthy green and brown tones.

Dating: 1963 - 1964

Shape: A round 8" (20cm) dish

Design: Poole Studio wares are the predecessors to the successful Delphis range. Launched initially in 1961 by Robert Jefferson and Guy Sydenham with a series of individual pieces, a commercial range was produced from 1963 when Tony Morris joined the team. Items are more individual in nature than later pieces and are often unsigned.

Backstamp: Stamped "POOLE STUDIO" together with the Poole dolphin in a "TV" shaped lozenge to the base. This mark was used on studio output between 1962 - 1964 and is usually blue in colour due to reaction with the glaze.

Painter: There is no paintress mark.

Condition: Very good condition. Some slight scratching on close inspection.
