Poole Pottery 1930's Picotee Vase Pattern No. 3


A white earthenware vase with spray glazed bands in blue, pink and grey. Picotee ware was one of the innovative ranges introduced by Poole during the 1930's.

Dating: 1935 - 1939

Shape: A 6" (15cm) bulbous vase impressed with shape number 266. Probably designed by John Adams c. 1929 - 1930.

Design: Picotee designs were introduced in 1932, a range of muted sprayed glaze colours applied using an aerograph, often in bands, on a magnolia base. Developed by Leslie Elsden for use on figures and other decorative wares.

Backstamp: Impressed "POOLE ENGLAND" on the base. This backstamp was used between 1930 and 1996.
