Poole Pottery 1970's Aegean Dish Corfe Castle


An unusual Aegean dish featuring a sgraffito design of local landmark Corfe Castle in a palette of orange, yellow and mottled brown.

Dating: 1970's

Shape: A round 8" (20cm) dish printed with shape number 3.

Design: The Aegean range was developed by Leslie Elsden in 1970, originally to replace Delphis. It features sgraffito and silhouette decorating techniques and a sombre colour palette.

Backstamp: Printed "POOLE England" on the base together with the Poole dolphin. This backstamp was used between 1966 and 1980.

Painter: There is no paintress mark.

Condition: Very good condition. Crazing to base.
