Poole Pottery 1960's Delphis Dish Ann Godfrey


A vibrant 1960's white earthenware Delphis dish with a good abstract pattern in blue, turquoise and grey on a vivid orange ground.

Dating: 1966

Shape: A round 8" (20cm) dish printed with shape number 3.

Design: Delphis began as a studio range in 1963 and, although colour palettes were standardised in the 1970's, each piece is a unique expression by the individual artist. The range was withdrawn in 1979.

Backstamp: Printed "POOLE England" on the base together with the Poole dolphin. This backstamp was used between 1966 and 1980.

Painter: Signed with a monogram by the paintress Ann Godfrey (later Lloyd), who was at Poole from 1965 - 1970 but only used this mark until 1966

Condition: Very good condition. Some light crazing, especially to base, and a few stray glaze spots.
