Poole Pottery 1960's Delphis Carved Bowl


A hand thrown and carved white earthenware bowl with an abstract pattern in early Delphis colours.

Dating: 1966 - 1968

Shape: A small 5"(13cm) diameter bowl standing just under 2" (5cm) tall and marked with shape number 86. This shape was only produced between 1966 - 1968.

Design: Delphis began as a studio range in 1963 and, although colour palettes were standardised in the 1970's, each piece is a unique expression by the individual artist. The range was withdrawn in 1979.

Backstamp: Printed "POOLE England" on the base together with the Poole dolphin. This backstamp was used between 1966 and 1980.

Painter: Signed with a monogram by the paintress Patricia Wells, who was at Poole from 1959 - 1973

Condition: Good condition but does have internal sidewall glaze misses as shown in picture 2.
