Poole Pottery 1930's Large Traditional Vase TJ


A substantial red earthenware vase with a fabulous jazzy art deco pattern freely painted in the traditional manner. This is a real head turner.

Dating: 1925 - 1934

Shape: A classic bulbous vase standing 7" (18cm) tall, with a maximum diameter of 6½" (16cm). Inscribed with shape number 201.

Design: Decorated with an art-deco traditional abstract floral pattern designed by Truda Carter. Marked with pattern code TJ.

Backstamp: Impressed "POOLE ENGLAND" on the base with a mark used between 1924 and 1950.

Painter: Signed with three lines by the paintress Marjorie Batt, who worked at Poole from 1925 - 1935 and again in 1946.

Condition: Very good condition. All over crazing on close inspection. Hexagon control mark to base.
